Hip-Hop Educator BREIS on Using Lyrics to Educate

BREIS (pronounced breeze) is a dynamic rap artist of Nigerian heritage based in South London. His name stands for Brother Reaching Each Inner Soul. His musical education was influenced by the likes of Stevie Wonder, Fela Kuti and rap legends, EPMD and A Tribe called Quest. He has shared the stage with musical legends such as Big Daddy Kane, Black Thought, Angie Stone, Omar Sosa to name a few.

He says: “I believe my purpose is to inspire, educate and entertain people through my music.”

As a purveyor of lyricism, BREIS’ smooth flow is full of witty lyrics, peppered with wordplay and humour. He tackles a wide range of topics in his songs, leaving listeners uplifted and inspired. Since 2001, BREIS has impacted the learning of thousands of students by facilitating Hip Hop inspired rap and poetry workshops in schools across the UK and across the globe. He has been invited to Washington DC, Amsterdam, Mozambique, Zanzibar, Vienna and Malaysia as a performer, workshop facilitator and creative consultant. In 2009 he founded the Hip Hop educational company Student of Life and in 2011 he became a published author by birthing the UK’s first interactive Hip Hop rap book entitled Brilliant Rappers Educate Intelligent Students.
